FAQs
Dog Training
• Since what age we should train our dog?
Dog should be trained since the moment he enters our home. 2-month old puppy is able to learn basic commends like: sit, stay, down, heel, come. Because puppy can focus on training at the beginning only for a few minutes, training sessions should be short but frequent. It is also good to take a dog to a puppy classes.
• What kind of training is better for my dog? Individual or group?
Individual training is always better for beginners. The hardest thing to teach a dog is to make him focus on his owner. The less distractions, the easier to learn for a dog. Individual classes are specially made to meet individual requirements, so clients can ask as many questions as they want and trainer is focused only on their case.
Group classes are good for further training, as the way of bringing obedience to perfection and continuous socialization.
• How does the training looks like?
The training looks quite different from conventional way of dog training. The biggest advantage is that trainer is focused not only on teaching commends but teaching client how to properly raise and educate his dog and how to communicate with him. The holistic approach on dog training, gives the best results. Training usually begins with consultations in client's house, when trainer can observe the dog and all family members, to choose the right training technique.
• How long does the training take?
The training does not have set time. It has set goals. It is hard to estimate how long it takes to train the dog, because all dogs are different so as owners. All depends on dog's individual skills and a consequence of the owner.
Behavioural Therapy
• My dog is always active and overexcited. It is extremely hard to take him for a walk, because he pulls all the time and always wants to be first. I suspect he has ADHD. Is it possible?
In most of cases, the cause od hyperactivity is simply extra energy accumulated in dog's body and mind. If dog do not have enough opportunity to release his energy, becomes tensed and unbalanced. He will be always active and unable to calm down by himself, responding to all strange sounds coming from outside, barking or running around the house or garden. Hyperactive dog is unable to focus on his owner for a longer perion of time. That is why, before a training session, it is good to take a dog for a long walk ON LEASH. Please remember not to give him affection while he is misbehaved. Don't encourage crazy jumping or rough play.
Hotel for dogs
• During summer we will have to leave our dog in a hotel, for the first time. How should we prepare him for this?
Important thing is to make your dog calm and relaxed when he is brought to the hotel. Long walk before the trip to hotel will be excellent for him. Please take with him his blanket or anything he sleeps on, to leave him the smell he knows.
The most important anyway, is the person, who will take care of him in the hotel. Dog has to feel safe and secure. Ask questions and visit the place before you leave your dog there.
Adoptions
• I am thinking about taking dog from a shelter. How should I choose a dog and what kind of question should I ask the dog care staff?
First questions you can ask is about the circumstances of bringing the dog to the shelter, how he reacts on new situations and new people or if there is anything he is afraid of... Do not make fast decisions. Think twice. You do not have to be in a hurry. Trust your feelings.
